How is this different than an affiliate program?
The reseller program is different than a traditional affiliate program on several key points:
- No commission structure. Affiliate programs revolve around a commission structure that is unfair to either the seller or the affiliate. If the affiliates are not paid well there is little impetus for them to sell. Likewise, if the seller doesn’t take a big cut, they provide poor support or are more likely to pull the product line.The Reseller program isn’t based on an affiliate structure.Resellers do not “take a cut” of the profits. They keep their profits as if the product was their own. The seller (energyaudits.net) is simply paid a small monthly licensing fee. This leads to higher profits than an affiliate program with a high value product.
- Very little competition. Affiliate programs are based on sheer volume, otherwise, the seller wouldn’t make their profits. So they extend the opportunity to become an affiliate to everybody they can. Then the market becomes over-saturated with the product, making it harder to sell.The reseller program participants are carefully selected by geographic area, expertise area, and even the type of site the kits are offered on. The goal is to maximize reseller profits, even if it means turning potential resellers away. We want to make our resellers successful. You won’t find that in any affiliate program.
- Total pricing and messaging control. In a typical affiliate program, affiliates simply send a flood of traffic to the seller’s site, then take a cut of the profits. They have no say or control over the marketing message or the price. Thus they have no control over their own profits.The reseller program gives its members total control of the messaging and price – even allowing free downloads.
